Ok basically just curious with this one but how do models not LOOK/act anorexic. Ok hear me out: I know darn well most victoria secret models have a bmi <18 & some probably even sit in the 16 range but how do they live the lifestyles they do & not act malnourished essentially. Even when I was getting >1,500 cals a day in & my bmi was still in the healthy range I got SUPER cold & physically felt myself get rlly tired easily, my hair was thinning & all in all I just had very little energy. My question is not going for the genetically blessed, I'm only talking about those who you know need to exercise & eat healthy to look a certain way.
I always told myself I could never get to a low enough weight to be a model because I never felt like it'd be sustainable for me but now I wonder how do so many other girls do it when it's probably not sustainable for them either? I don't get it, how are they not starving 24/7, how do they not binge, how do they live active lifestyles but yet if I work out twice in one week I feel exhausted

Is it just because I'm lazy with no actual motivation or do you think that 99.9% of them are just genetically blessed and don't actually have eating disorders ?
Last point: I know a lot of ppl are gonna be like they probs volume eat/eat extremely healthy but even when I volume eat sometimes I feel like it doesn't satisfy me mentally & I feel like not long after I need to eat whatever I actually wanted if that makes sense.. anywho I've just been super curious about this lately
Pls don't eat me if this comes off bad I just didn't know how else to put it other than extremely bluntly

Some former Ex Victoria's Secret Models, opened up about this issue. If we think about Bridget Malcom, for example, she says that she deals with long-term health issues, due to her ed. I think it's because generally we don't see the backstage, only what the media creates, for example they have access to do makeup artists, hairdressers, doctors, etc. Mostly have very restrictive diets and an exhausting exercise routine.

^^ what the above poster said. I think they do have problems, we just don't see it on the runway.

As far as hair goes they all wear an insane amount of clip in hair extensions on the runway and their hair looks thin af without them from what I've seen in videos

>> how are they not starving 24/7
they probably are, at least in the weeks leading up to a show

>> how do they not binge
their career (aka their entire livelihood) depends on them not binging ... probably a good motivator

>> how do they live active lifestyles but yet if I work out twice in one week I feel exhausted
endurance/stamina is something that has to be built up over time. also, their career depends on them staying fit.
since most of them are so physically active, they probably eat more (i.e. eating at exactly maintenance, or at least high-restricting).

>> do you think that 99.9% of them are just genetically blessed and don't actually have eating disorders ?
could go either way - i have a few friends who are models, and about half have EDs, but the other half don't (that i know of). maintaining a BMI of 16-17 is typically never "natural" though ... while they may not all be anorexic, they still have to work hard and have very restrictive diets/very vigorous exercise routines to maintain that certain "look".

Drugs & money. They can afford stimulants to keep them awake & ‘active’ enough to complete workout routines. They can afford to live on apples & protein shakes too. They also probably have extremely busy days which is super helpful!! I know if i stay home all day i just wanna binge & i can feel myself starving extra hard but on a busy day where im out running errands etc I honestly do forget to eat & suddenly its 6pm & ive done a 24hr fast with 0 effort (i drink diet coke & black coffee tho). Models can also afford the best vitamins & skincare products + facials, laser hair removal, extensions etc it all contributes to them looking healthy & nice.

They are. Like some say drugs but id lean more towards them consuming large amounts of caffeine, being on their feet most of the day, overecervising and having a busy schedule that keeps them busy/ can help keep their mind off of food for a while at least. I have no idea how they do it. I follow some models in my country and one girl says she has to be very midnful about how much she eats and what kind of food it is bc her management wants her measurements to stay the same. She said she drank 2-3 energy drinks a day but was trying to cut back. Thats just one person tho

..never understood how their HAIR can look so healthy and shiny
They have very expensive hairdressers working with top models.

But yeah, I high restrict and even my hair is super dry and damaged from lack of nutrition.

I have a friend who did modelling and while I don't think she had a full blown ED she definitely did struggle and also met a lot of other models very actively in their EDs. Granted I don't think she ever did runways, just photoshoots, but to me she never seemed like someone who struggled. I thought she was all fine, I only found out later. That being she's doing a lot better now but she's still incredibly skinny/fit and looks gorgeous, I guess it's just a combination of habits and genes for some (though she did gain up to a healthier weight I believe, but it's barely visible). So there definitely are some models that don't starve or torture themselves to look the way they do, but below a certain bmi it's most likely bullshit if they claim that.

Some apparently eat healthy - with no snacks, no sweets, no fresh drinks... e.g.

Shanina Shaik
"I'm pescatarian, but I eat vegan as often as I can. My breakfast is usually a tempeh scramble or vegetable omelette. For lunch, I enjoy steamed fish with vegetables, and for dinner, I find I eat less. I eat a veggie bowl stir-fry, gluten-free pasta or more yummy steamed fish with veggies. I don't drink any soda or fruit juices-just water, tea, and coffee."

Some may have more self-control than others... and not binge...

A lot of them probably are.. not to mention the excess of drugs in the industry. Also even models on the healthier side tend to eat extremely healthy and clean. They could easily starve themselves then when they reach low enough maintain eating super healthy and exercise.

It can be low cal foods, general clean diets fit to not gain weight, or drugs most likely. Models have EDS even if they choose not to recognize it. I feel like they take supplements for hair or eat some days and fast the others. I take vitamins and my hair is healthy so?

What's scary is how some don't fear fainting when they fast too long etc like hell no I'd bring a smoothie incase lol
